Overview

The goal of the concept designer is to research trends to assist in creating the vision and design seasonal concepts as well as mid-season emerging trend capsules, category studies and chase. To create and present concept capsules and shape studies. Trends should be filtered and interpreted for Anthropologie and drive business, support multiple customer aesthetics, deliver key proportions, outfits and looks in apparel. Graphic design and styling abilities should be strong. Collaborative abilities and strong communication are important; as well as the ability to deliver authoritative presentations to leadership, design and buying teams.

Responsibilities

  • Vision and design seasonal concept and trend.
  • Participate in big ideas kick offs, concept presentation, road mapping/sketch reviews, sample reviews.
  • Drive sample review overview styling photography and presentation.
  • Participate in cross concept ideation meetings.
  • Identify key proportions, looks and silhouettes.
  • Shape study and runway reporting seasonally.
  • Ascertain new resources for trend, design, and concept information.
  • Collect images to illustrate current and future trends and concepts.
  • Present and communicate seasonal concept, trend decks.
  • See plans through from conception to finalization, help with finalization set up, outfitting, photoshoots, room set-up etc.
  • Keep abreast of customer identity and customer aesthetics.
  • Partner with concept team to balance the brands and maximize the major trends.
  • Collaborate with print, color, and fabric teams.
  • Collaborate with design directors and designers.
Qualifications
  • Highly creative with the ability to recognize and forecast fashion and cultural trends as they relate to the Anthropologie customer.
  • Expert knowledge of apparel concept design.
  • Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and commercial design solutions.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Energetic team player with excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with partners in Design and cross-functional teams.
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience in concept design.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree is Fashion, Design, Trend or similar.

Travel

Yes, the position requires occasional domestic and overseas travel.
