FUNCTION

The Apparel Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and realizing on-trend graphics and silhouettes that align with the Pura Vida brand aesthetic within Apparel (tees, hoodies, crewneck fleece, joggers, sweatpants).

The Apparel Designer will manage the design of the apparel category including graphic design, trend, fits and washes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES(Note: Other duties may be assigned)

  • Responsible for managing the Apparel design process from conception through PP, balancing creative thinking with commercial viability while always evolving the product.
  • Partner with Design, Merchandising and Product Development to ensure alignment with design intent and assortment goals during prototyping phase and throughout the entire design process.
  • Understanding of the Apparel fit / sample process, specifically the knit category, but has experience in other apparel categories as well. Has the ability to schedule fit sessions based on sample timeline, make fit adjustments as needed and communicate them back to the appropriate teams, including Product Development, Design and Merchandising leadership and vendors.
  • Strong understanding of graphic design and knit apparel washes. Has the ability to design graphics as well as apparel silhouettes.
  • Maintain a high level of communication and collaboration with the leadership team and peers to ensure continual progress toward timely, accurate and cohesive assortment completion. On-brand collections that meet aesthetic, assortment and business goals.
  • Communicate seasonal material needs with PD and submit material requests.
  • Provide detailed product pass-offs to Product Development, including CADs and technical packs with detailed design instruction, trim direction, and fabric information.
  • Execute corrections as needed; work with Product Development and Global Sourcing to find appropriate solutions to cost or construction issues to improve construction and meet target costs.
  • Participate in design presentations to cross-functional teams throughout the development process.
  • Ensure adherence to all milestones on the seasonal master calendar.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in fashion apparel / graphic design or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in design
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Suite.
  • Strong sense of ownership and determination to get things done.
