WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As our Apparel designer 1 in Womens Tennis, you’ll create the future of sport style through innovative aesthetic execution. Bringing to life the seasonal category creative direction through apparel design with details and silhouettes that are fueled by athlete* and consumer Insights.
We are looking for someone with a strong sense of aesthetic, that can be applied through the Tennis and performance filter. The candidate needs to have a passion for listening and serving the consumer, as well as a clear sense of style & performance apparel. Tennis is a sport where performance is imperative, and iconic style expected. You’ll need strong communication skills with teammates across the organization, including expert listening and collaborative problem solving.
This role demands exceptional time management skills, a one step ahead, proactive demeanor, as well as agility and an efficient working style. Experience and success navigating a fast paced, reactive and constantly evolving landscape would lend to success in this role.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You are responsible for a full scope of product creation, from concepting seasonal stories, muses, initial designs, tech packs and then fit updates until the product is complete. You’ll execute all product details including construction detail, form, style, fit, fabric, performance, trims, etc.
If this is you, you’ll be working with the Design Director, Senior designer, and other Nike designers to create original product designs or refresh existing products reflecting Nikes design philosophy.
The role will focus on Nike Tennis Women’s apparel business, specifically the retailed Tennis styles, across multiple tiers.
You will confidently communicate your ideas across functions such as Design, Development and Product management and Nike Leadership. Thus, producing presentation materials that optimally convey the concept behind the line.
You will provide consistent support for the design team, outside of assigned product workload, e.g. making sketches, sourcing materials, creating tech packs.
You will be flexible, with an ability to work successfully in a fluid working environment.
You will demonstrate strong team work, collaborating with a Graphic Designer and Color designer to complete the vision of your product. You will also develop product and make decisions collectively with your Triad team of Product Managers and Technical Developers.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
This designer will report into a Senior designer, and will collaborate closely with Tech design, Product management & multiple design teams. The role will have no direct reports.
WHAT YOU BRING
• Bachelor degree in Apparel Design or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to apply and perform design skills such as: drawing/sketching, ideation, digital product creation and visual presentation development.
• Familiarity with current trends, color and design.
• Basic understanding of pattern making, draping, materials, trims, garment fit, garment construction, and manufacturing
• Basic knowledge of the apparel industry, marketing principles, and development process
