Super Smalls is searching for an experienced Freelance Art Director to help ideate and execute the next chapter of our brand and business alongside our founders. This creative leader will drive big picture branding concepts, category and product expansion, and campaign and marketing imagery. Your elevated taste will capture the juxtaposition of playful / edgy and luxury / ‘street style’. You will have a great sense of humor, a youthful spirit, and a drive towards excellence that powers a magical result and impassioned collaboration.

With the Executive Team

  • Work directly with the CCO to develop and extend brand vision for Super Smalls
  • Work closely with the CEO to set strategic growth objectives for the brand and its creative ventures
  • Establish an extend our brand and design philosophy throughout the creative domain and evolve the brand story
  • With the Product Development and Marketing Teams
  • Develop tangible concepts such as packaging evolution, visual merchandising, and retail concepts
  • Work closely with Product Development to successfully thread brand tenets into category expansion and products
  • Lead art direction, pre- and post- production, as well as on-set direction for stills and motion
  • Drive aesthetic vision for marketing campaigns and major launches

With Your Team

  • Manage the design team, establish processes and deliverables, collaborate across team members such as project managers, copywriters, marketing specialists, and business owners
  • Grow the team where necessary to successfully execute on creative goals
  • Maintain a high bar in all creative work, ensuring cohesive excellence across concept, design, and production
  • Further develop existing brand guidelines to create a cohesive experience across all touchpoints
  • Build original ideas and manage the creative team in their development and execution across various use cases

Your Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience as a creative leader across brand building, product and packaging design, and print and digital campaigns
  • A portfolio of work that showcases an ability to combine ideas and execute across concepts (ideas), art direction (leadership), design (photography, typography, color theory etc.), and product
  • Comfortable crafting big ideas while maintaining a sharp level of attention to detail
  • Collaborative work ethic, driven by other creatives, namely a Chief Creative Officer
  • An experienced manager, respectful and motivational, able to inspire teams and leaders as well as manage deadlines and deliverables
  • Ability to complete comps within a fast-paced, dynamic, deadline-driven environment, according to expectations
  • Comfortable adapting to shifting priorities and making careful but efficient decisions in the face of tight deadlines (you’re not, afraid to push boundaries, but also mindful of budgets and production realities)
  • Strong traditional art skills including knowledge of color, lighting, perspective, and composition
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
  • Understanding of the production process from concept to completion
  • Well organized, a clear thinker, and an excellent communicator in both written and verbal domains
