Assistant Apparel Designer – Children’s

We are a premium children's fashion brand calledThe Sunday Collective (https://thesundaycollective.com/) under JD Link Inc. and looking for an Assistant Designerto join our team. Please note that this is for ajunior level position with 1 – 2 year of experience.

The key components of this role include assisting the head designer and the creative director in all aspects of creating and executing seasonal collections. This position will have the opportunity to explore the depths of creativity and passion in ways that align with our brand and improve upon individual skills as an apparel designer.

This person takes ownership of their role by contributing ideas and investing in personal growth as a designer. The Assistant Designer will be able to experience and learn about the full production process of the high-quality garments by working closely with the designers, the production team, and the vendors. We are looking for an individual who will excel at designing, organizing, and communicating while paying close attention to small details.

Job Description

·       Assist in day-to-day operations of the design team & production team

·       Expand knowledge in fabrications/trims by maintaining fabric & trim library (digital & physical)

·       Attend fabric shows to assist the designer in trend research

·       Revise and update production development boards

·       Assists in facilitating all aspects of design: from concept to final development of product

·       Spec-ing production samples for the fit process

·       Assists in photoshoot sampling process by communicating with the sample room and patternmaker

·       Participates in fit process and takes notes of fit comments to update the t/ps

·       Participate & contribute in regarding product design during design meetings

·       Track inbound packages & prepare outgoing packages to vendors

·       Assist in vendor follow-ups to maintain development & production timeline

Qualifications & Skills

·       Must be eligible to work in the US

·       1-2 year of experience in apparel design, preferably in children’s wear

·       Bachelor’s degree in fashion design or related field

·       Illustrator sketching ability with a focus in technical accuracy

·       Excellence in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel

·       Knowledge of fabrication and trims

·       Working knowledge of garment construction, garment measurements/specs, and trim measurement

·       Graphic/print design skill is plus

·       Ability to learn and adapt new software systems in a timely manner

·       Experience in creating technical packages preferred

·       Clear and concise communication skills

·       Trend and fashion awareness

·       Excellent organizational and time management skills with sense of urgency

·       Strong work ethic
