Our client is an established contemporary fashion company and they are currently seeking an Assistant / Associate Tech Designer to join their team. This exciting, fast-growing company is looking for a talented Assistant / Associate Tech Designer to work in their Manhattan office. SALARY/HOURLY RATE: $18/hr – $25/hr POSITION OVERVIEW: This Assistant / Associate Tech Designer position supports the design team for a product line. This position participates in the development of product and trend direction for the season and assists in the timely and accurate entry of all specifications for new designs. The candidate should be involved in and learn the design process by supporting the administrative work needed to ensure samples and production requests meet the required timeline for speedy delivery. This is a hybrid role with 4 days a week in office and 1 day remote. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE TECH DESIGNER: Create accurate detailed technical packages, following design directions for each style from development through production, that meet brand requirements Attend and participate in weekly fittings on live models, evaluate fit and analyze issues to establish a plan of action for corrections Draft, correct, and digitize patterns following silhouette, proportion, and design details as required Work together with Technical Design Director to evaluate the fit of each sample, identifying fit problems and recommending appropriate solutions Perform ongoing evaluation of quality and workmanship to ensure design direction is correctly interpreted and quality standards are consistently met Inspect garments at store level following flip dates to ensure production meets final approval inspection/QC standards Regularly review base size specifications, grade rules, and figure types to ensure size range meets the company objective QUALIFICATIONS OF THE ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE TECH DESIGNER: Previous experience in technical design Experience working with garments Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word) as well as Adobe Illustrator PLM experience is a plus EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent BENEFITS: Available upon eligibility As a woman-owned firm, we value diversity.
