The Opportunity

As an Assistant Buyer you will contribute to the continued growth of One Kings Lane as a partner to the Associate Buyer within a product. You will have the opportunity to support the build of the product assortment, through thoughtful category development via vendor relationships and internal collaboration with Buying leaders and Planning & Merchandising partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the business direction and process calendar for specific vendorswithin multiple categories of business.Upwards of 50-100+ vendors, across multiple categories.
  • Or support and grow established multi-category business and process calendar in partnership with Buyer.
  • Leverage historical data to support the growth of the bottom-line business of designated category. Ability to build & analyze reports. Compile reports on product performance and statistics. Prepare and present concise, persuasive and data driven cases for vendors, peers, and executive leaders
  • In depth data entries for promotions, pricing, and sku management. Manage full sku ingestion process or life cycle.
  • Build and merchandise the vendor’s assortment to support sales, margin growth and positioning of the OKL brand
  • Build and foster relationships with upwards of 50-100+ vendors and internal partners to ensure successful, product launches and a well-rounded category shopping experience. Negotiation skills?
  • Analyze and present weekly category sales data to identify trends and themes within the business
  • Recognize opportunities within the business and develop initial recommendations for either immediate or long-term gains
  • Provide category status updates to internal leaders
  • Maintain an awareness of product line themes and competitive landscape
  • Source new products across existing and new vendors, share selections with broader team and leadership and oversee sku creation and launch

Skills & Requirements

  • 1-2 years of retail merchandising or buying experience in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Retail Math; strong analytical & organizational sills
  • Proven ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and operate independently
  • Familiarity with working with multiple cross-functional partners
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, a self-starter who can think innovatively and take the ball and run with it with a positive attitude
  • Passion for product, design, luxury home furnishings and décor
  • This is a WFH, remote position
