Position Summary:

Participate in the apparel product creation process envisioning new concepts and products! While assisting the merchandising team for up to eight private label and licensed retail brands, the Assistant Merchandiser will learn to bring product to life! The role is part of a team responsible for supporting Merchandisers by diving into research, executing merchandising projects, and facilitating cross-functional team communication.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Communications / Information Distribution

  • Act as a key merchandising contact to answer questions and facilitate information flow throughout cross functional teams related to product creation
  • Develop a collaborative working environment with cross-functional teams to aid in product creation communications
  • Updates and distributes calendar deadlines along with maintenance of calendar tool utilized by merchandising team (Asana)
  • Assists in the preparation, coordination, proofing, and execution of sales tools and product presentations (e.g., catalogs, photo samples, sample preparation, power point creation, meeting set-up, etc.)
  • Responsible for assembling and distributing various product documentation per the calendar and assigned deadlines, including ETA lists, companion list, web spec sheet info, and product feedback recaps

Market Research and Analysis

  • Researches and analyzes competitor offerings, market product, and consumer trends for assigned Merchandiser as needed
  • Gathers data and assists in conducting analysis of sales history to identify trends and future product opportunities to support merchandisers
  • Creates documentation on research findings for consumer and market information and presents information to team
  • Solicits and compiles input and feedback from sales team via Sales Force

Line Planning/Product Creation Process

  • Assists Merchandising team in daily merchandising administrative tasks that support overall merchandising processes including color file maintenance, market sample organization,
  • Helps maintain the line planning, pricing and product creation documentation for assigned Merchandisers - including silhouette/style/color plan, fit/sizing vision, flow plan, and pricing strategies
  • Helps resolve process and merchandising issues that arise throughout the season and recommends ways to continually improve process efficiencies

Requirements For Position:

  • Strong business orientation, analytical aptitude, retail math and computer skills
  • Communicate in verbal and written form to effectively and clearly articulate goals and objectives
  • Seek information proactively and work cooperatively in a diverse group
  • Detail oriented with ability to create plans and timelines to consistently meet deadlines
  • Lead and influence others and champion projects using demonstrated creativity and ingenuity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Adobe Illustrator experience a plus

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Design, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in apparel product related roles

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
