We are searching for an experienced Assistant Technical Designer to partner with Senior Technical Designer on executing the technical design process from development to production for Missy, Petite, and Women's. Primary responsibilities include analyzing and evaluating garments to develop the correct fit specifications and achieving desired design in conjunction with Sourcing, Design, and Merchandising.

Duties:

  • Attend and document decisions during fit sessions with cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborates with Senior Technical Designer, Design, and Merchandising in all aspects of daily fittings and product evaluations.
  • Updates tech packs, including detailed technical sketches, graded measurement specifications, construction details, bill of materials and packaging instructions.
  • In conjunction with Senior Technical Designer/Technical designer evaluates samples for vendor's execution of fit and construction along with providing solutions via pattern corrections and/or garment re-engineering.
  • Assist in the analysis of repeat styles where necessary to improve return rates.
  • Communicate issues effectively and in a timely manner to appropriate party: Agents, Vendors, Factories, SIS, and Soft Surroundings Quality Control.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with cross functional and global partners.
  • Ensure all samples are properly labeled for ease of reference.
  • Ensure technical information is properly prepared for all fittings and meetings.
  • Interface with Customer Service: Condor, Customer Service Training, QA Alerts and SOINFO with regard to product specifications, construction, selling points.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with internal and external associates.
  • Trips to DC, store and travel to factories as required.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Requires college degree or equivalent education with an understanding of computers and computer software i.e.: Illustrator, Excel, Outlook, PLM, Power Point. Requires problem solving and formulation skills, math, and calculation, reading and reasoning. Must have knowledge of draping and patternmaking. Must have knowledge of garment assembly. Knowledge of grading and grade rules. Knowledge of textiles, wet processing and garment dying.
  • 0-2 years of previous technical design, apparel design, manufacturing, or patternmaking experience.
