The Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for providing administrative support to the Editor-in-Chief of Bon Appétit and Epicurious and providing support for the editorial staff at large as needed. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, deadline-oriented, organized, efficient, and able to balance competing priorities. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential to the role. A successful candidate will ensure the Editor-in-Chief’s schedule and brand operations are running smoothly and will be engaged with brand content and initiatives in order to assist across the organization as necessary.

Primary Responsibilities (75%)

  • Provide administrative support to the Editor-in-Chief such as:
  • Managing calendar and schedule
  • Managing expenses and travel arrangements
  • Scheduling, answering, and assisting with calls
  • Taking and sharing accurate and timely notes to assist the follow-up process
  • Assisting with logistics, coordinating, research, prep, and editorial support for content produced by EIC, as well as for events, press, and other opportunities involving EIC
  • Liaising across the company to ensure smooth logistics for meetings, events, press opportunities, and other workflows/processes
  • Have an understanding of production across the organization and help EIC prioritize and integrate into workflows

Additional Responsibilities (25%)

  • Coordinate staff meetings and any necessary follow-up
  • Opportunity to contribute to editorial content across platforms, including: attending and participating in editorial meetings; pitching, writing, and executing assigned stories for Bon Appétit and Epicurious; and creating assigned content across all brand platforms
  • Additional duties as assigned, such as:
  • Assist with logistics and operations for external and internal events and tentpoles, as well as as other special projects
  • Manage general office administration and supplies; liaise with facilities group to coordinate office maintenance as necessary.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional experience working in an administrative role, preferably in editorial or media
  • Excellent communication, time management, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to be proactive to anticipate and solve logistical issues
  • Ability to anticipate needs and have thorough follow-through
  • As a plus, proficiency in G-Suite, digital content management systems, K4, and Asana
