The Assistant Designer is responsible to assist in design and development of all soft accessories (printed scarfs, cold weather, hats, gloves, and beach cover-ups) for private label customers from conceptual stage through sampling to production.


The Assistant Designer will work closely with the Designer as well as the Account Managers, Operations, Production, Customer Service, and Design Teams. Of course, they will also work closely with a wide variety of different customers.


The Assistant Designer – Custom Division will travel locally on an as-needed basis for research and/or customer appointments.


·      Work with the Designer to establish concepts, color, and product direction for each account seasonally.

·      Assist designer in preparing customer presentations for virtual or in person meetings by researching trends, gathering reference samples, and creating CADS/ prints.

·      Assist Designer in preparing PLM tech packs with technical sketches and specs/ updating information in PLM as needed.

·      Assist Designer in checking samples through proto to TOP. Clearly communicate all sample comments to factories as needed.

·      Collaborate with Product Development Manager on pricing & development and communicate with overseas mills.

·      Source and develop new fabrications, trims, and/or novelties. Secure all pertinent information i.e., price, minimum, delivery.

·      Work with in house CAD team to develop layouts and print ideas. As well as create basic prints and repeats independently.

·      Create print colorway options. Prep artwork to send to factories with color/ scale call outs.

·      Maintain communication with mills throughout development following up regularly to ensure samples come in on time and correct.

·      Ownership over photo library of all production samples.

·      Maintain and organize sample and reference libraries.

·      Assist designer in presenting during internal meetings with upper management.


·      Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Textile or Fashion Design with knowledge of print and knitwear design.

·      Strong communication and team skills with the ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization

·      Exceptional organization abilities with attention to detail and follow through

·      Proficiency on Adobe Suite, working knowledge of Kaleido/ NedGraphics preferred.
