Essential Job functions (Tasks, duties and responsibilities most important to get the job done)

75% - Develop Buy

  • Deliver sales and margin plans for the business unit. Ability to function within varying deadlines across multiple calendars. Aptitude to work both independently and as a part of the team.
  • Manage and Initiate weekly pricing actions to react to in-season sales and inventory weekly with pricing, visual, site and allocation strategies. Report business results and actions to leadership weekly.
  • Create line strategy and develop seasonal line plans that support sales and margin plans and store type plans. Utilize this information to build and present seasonal strategies to our cross functional partners. Collaborate with merchandising to communicate business needs to design.
  • Build style level assortment plans with Average Units Per Store, Average Weekly Sales, Sell thru and True Demand metrics that roll to the corporate financial targets.
  • Partner with visual team pre-season and in-season to create detailed floor plans and visual statements that support the promotional cadence.
  • Partner with planners to build seasonal financial plans that support the merchandising strategy
  • Analyze business trends as needed by gathering data and quickly summarizing it to draw conclusions and take action.

25% - Buying Support Functions

  • Special projects and weekly team meetings (ad hoc analysis, trend analysis)
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly business hindsight/recaps to capture accurate financial and selling history
  • Manage purchase orders (Keying and modifying orders, maintaining purchase order logs, communication with Inventory Control and Assistant Buyer
  • Manage price changes (Keying and modifying) with Assistant Buyer
  • Actively participate in weekly meetings with cross functional partners to react to in-season business and plan future seasons
  • Seasonal Buy Review preparation and presentations to Leadership Team and cross functional partners
  • Collaborate with Assistant Buyer and Allocation partners to ensure inner office functions and responsibilities are efficient and effective
  • Competitive shop on a monthly basis to review competitor pricing and key item strategies

Prior Work Experience And Educationional Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 2-3 years assistant buyer experience required
  • Owning and financially responsible for a buy independently from beginning to end
  • Mastery of retail math and analytics
  • Strong proficiency in merchandising principles and product knowledge
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Oral and written communication, critical thinking, time management, analytical comprehension
  • Multi-Task, detail oriented, decisive, collaborative and team oriented
