Responsible for merchandise selection, purchasing and assortment planning for select categories. Accountable for fostering vendor relationships and financial results for sales, gross margin, and inventory levels for specific categories.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Review, select and purchase merchandise at the most favorable price, quality and value.

· Regularly review performance factors, such as sales, margin and inventory levels.

· Implement all replenishment/rebuys for assigned categories.

· Accountable for training and development of all direct reports.

· Initiate, develop and maintain strategic vendor relationships.

· Negotiate prices, quantities, payment terms and transportation arrangements with suppliers for assigned categories.

· Interpret and execute company-wide strategies for assigned product categories.

· Stay abreast of current trends and monitor competitor’s merchandise assortments, pricing and promotional activities.

· Work closely with Buyer and Marketing department to develop compelling weekly emails to drive customer engagement.

· Travel domestically and/or internationally to attend trade shows, visit factories and showrooms as business dictates.

· Monitor shipping and receiving of purchased merchandise.

· Initiate and confirm all necessary retail price changes.

· Use company systems to help analyze merchandise sell-through to ensure expected results are being achieved.

WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:

· B.A./B.S. Degree preferred

· Minimum of three years of buying experience and/or multiple category management in a retail environment.
