Position Summary:

ABC Carpet & Home is currently looking for an Associate Buyer to be a part of our community and continue to grow the success of our tabletop business.

The Associate Buyer must have the ability to achieve goals and work in a fast paced environment. This position is responsible for building assortments and driving key business strategies for category in partnership with the DMM.

Buying experience in home + tabletop - major plus!

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Understand and uphold the ABC lifestyle and culture.

2. Keep abreast of current industry trends.

3. Build and manage assortment within the OTB.

4. Run weekly sales reports and analyze product performance highlighting key business opportunities, presenting data in a compelling manner.

5. Understand seasonality and the life cycle of products being sold.

6. Recommend mark-downs, re-orders and returns to vendors.

7. Build cross-functional team relationships (planning, marketing, visual, store, ecommerce, etc).

8. Train cross-functional teams on product assortment.

9. Respond to storeline requests in a timely manner.

10. Develop, mentor, and coach the merchandise assistant.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

1. Bachelor’s degree.

2. Relevant buying experience in home.

3. Strong negotiating skills regarding vendor cost terms and delivery dates.

4. Passion for ABC product and mission.

5. Analytical-thinker, good communicator, and ability to understand the dynamic retail climate and trends.

6. Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills—verbal, written, time management, project skills.

7. Strong planning skills with a sense of priority and attention to detail within a revenue driven atmosphere.

8. Must be flexible, highly-motivated and a forward-thinker.

9. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and G-Suite (G-mail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Slides)

10. Working knowledge of Shopify a plus.

11. Ability to work some weekends for trade shows and events.

12. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.

Adheres to company policy and procedures; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with manager about department issues; demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload; consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position; meets department productivity standards.
