The Apothecarium, founded in 2011, is a full-service medical and recreational cannabis dispensary with three California locations in San Francisco, and new dispensaries in Berkeley and Capitola opening in 2020. Las Vegas, Pennsylvania and New Jersey are also home to The Apothecarium dispensaries.

About This Role

The Associate Buyer will support the Head Buyer and Procurement Manager to plan and execute Procurement goals and actions for Apothecarium Store Locations. This includes inventory ordering, purchase orders completion, and maintenance of inventory and product catalog at all California Apothecarium store locations in strict compliance with all state laws and standard operating procedures of The Apothecarium.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in professional and life experience
  • Must be authorized to live and work in the U.S.
  • Applicants may be required to take a background check after a conditional offer is made. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must speak/write English proficiently
  • Basic math skills for Point of Sale (POS) system and proficiency with cash handling and inventory

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in inventory or retail procurement
  • Experience working with METRC
  • Experience working in retail Familiarity with current cannabis industry brands, products and best practices
  • Possess personal knowledge of medicinal effects of cannabis and cannabis products
  • Familiarity with traditional retail procurement metrics including inventory turnover, vendor performance, stock to sales ratio, etc.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Execute daily and weekly ordering and vendor communication
  • Track the completion of purchase orders and associated workflows
  • Forecast replenishment order quantities while maintaining budget
  • Facilitate transfer of products from distribution warehouse to retail locations
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of transferred product
  • Assist with daily reconciliation and reporting of sales from point of sale to METRC California State Track and Trace software.
  • Maintain and ensure SKU accuracy in POS system
  • Assist with data entry and regular maintenance of products and inventory levels in POS systems including METRC California State Track and Trace software
  • Audit product data and product laboratory test results to ensure accuracy
  • Facilitate inventory communication between departments and provide guidance for Buying Coordinators.
  • Provide updates to employees on new products and brand partnerships
  • Coordinate with Head Buyer, Retail Managers and other stakeholders to ensure adequate store stock levels and variety.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Operations, and Marketing teams to onboard new brand partners and products
  • Provide recommendations to Head Buyer for potential new brand partners and products
  • Collaborate with retail stakeholders and external vendors to generate and execute region-wide promotional campaigns and associated workflows
  • Communicate vendor requests and/or concerns to the Procurement Manager and Head Buyer
  • Use discretion with sensitive and confidential security and business information
  • Maintain and cultivate a professional and positive relationship with our vendors and distributors
  • Maintain a positive work environment conducive to trust and respect.
