Associate Designer - Intimate Apparel/Lingerie

New York,NY(Hybrid role with remote work flexibility, in-office required on Thursdays)

Extendable Contract position

Overview: Join the dynamic team as an Associate Designer for a leading fashion brand. Contribute your creative flair to design commercially viable products that align with brand strategy and captivate our audience. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced individual to make a significant impact.

Responsibilities

  • Develop brand-right, commercial designs reflecting conceptual direction and business strategy.
  • Create seasonal products focusing on style, fit, and fabric, delivering design sketches and specifications.
  • Adapt designs based on feedback, ensuring finalization aligns with brand vision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and partners throughout the design process.
  • Stay updated on fashion trends, conduct market research, and contribute to team brainstorming sessions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including colored linesheets and PLM system updates.
  • Lead weekly fittings, ensuring execution of design intent with Manager support.
  • Support internal company presentations and contribute to custom requests as needed.
  • Achieve set goals with acute attention to detail, tracking progress, and anticipating potential issues.
  • Pursue opportunities for personal growth and skill development.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key partners.
  • Seek to improve processes for efficient and agile design delivery.
  • Meet budget and time commitments without compromising design excellence.
  • Conduct moderate domestic travel as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Design.
  • 3+ years of design experience in a comparable retail environment.
  • Prior experience in Lingerie/Corseterie constructions and understanding of the female body silhouette.
  • Solid knowledge of fashion history, key designers, and styles.
  • Commercial fashion eye with attention to product styling and performance.
  • Strong organizational skills, collaborative mindset, and ability to take accountability.
  • Passionate, highly motivated, and results-oriented.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Knowledge of PLM systems is a plus.
  • Beautiful hand sketching skills are a plus.
