Associate Sweater Designer – Junior Apparel

The Designer is responsible for developing and managing the sweater assortment for Junior Inventory & private label accounts. This role should continuously deliver and uphold the account aesthetic, while also evolving with our client’s needs and industry trends.
As a key liaison with Merchandising, the ideal candidate will have strong organizational, storytelling, styling/outfitting, presentation, teamwork and execution skills.
Responsibilities:
Managing sweater development from start to finish for private label
Tracking samples, communication with factories
Identify Juniors Sweater trends and conceptualize new ideas that complement the existing brand aesthetic or take the business in a new, brand-appropriate direction
Knowledge of yarns, gauges, stitches and construction
Must be proficient with quick and detailed Illustrator sketching
Responsible for creating tech packs; specs, detailed construction pages, color combos, stitch details
Create sweater development tech pack & colors
Help build the line according to style plans, Clients’ needs and emerging trends with sales & teams
Attend fitting & sales meeting
Oversee execution of development samples
Comfortable working in a very fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
Proficient in Sweater Yarn, Jacquard layouts & creating initial Tech Pack.
Solid background in working with merchandising on delivering on-trend commercially successful designs.
Vast knowledge of Sweater construction and details
Knowledge and experience in the women’s market
Exceptional design and product development skills; ability to manage from idea to execution
The strong point of view and decision-making capabilities
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
