As a Buyers Assistant at David Jones, you will work alongside your Buyer to drive commercial results within Home. Joining our home team, you will assist with curating and delivering a product range using your relationship with suppliers that is innovative and unique to David Jones. We are looking for someone who would like to develop their skills in merchandising, who is highly organized, is an excellent communicator and who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Based in Bath and Bedding categories, this role would suit an experienced BA or retail/VM candidate looking to grow their career in our iconic retailer with work from home flexibility.

Job description

• Be responsible for quantifying and completing Buyer orders
• Oversee product performance and initiate markdown within policy
• Monitor and maintain purchasing and inventory levels
• Allocation of stock and inventory nationally
• Report of buyership performance and provide recommendations
• Monitor supplier deliveries and action follow ups when necessary
• Collaborate with publishers, vendors and suppliers

What are we looking for?

• Demonstrated experience working within a similar role in a retail environment
• Demonstrated experience working in a similar role with a passion for buying
• Confidence using Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage with stakeholders
• Ability to prioritise and meet conflicting deadlines
