POSITION: DESIGNER

Aether Apparel creates purposeful clothing and accessories for men and women. Built as a uniform for the restless, we facilitate the activities and needs of the wearer through intelligent, timeless design. Starting with snow sports in 2009, the brand has since expanded into moto, lifestyle outerwear, sweaters, fleece and accessories. We make products to be used, tested to their limits, and depended on for every day and every adventure.

Aether Apparel is looking for a highly motivated, organized, and focused individual to join the team as Designer. Your role will be integral in the facilitation of all apparel and accessories from conception to production. This is a highly hands-on role that will require a detailed and experienced eye for outerwear; you will be teaming with the Design Director to create fully loaded technical product. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and possesses a strong sense of responsibility and accountability, has a passion for clothing and a drive to push the envelope of design.

Job Duties:

  • Support seasonal research
  • Lead product/material innovation research and implementation
  • Work alongside Product Development and Production teams
  • Manage fabric selection in partnership with Product Development
  • Execute garment design, detail sketches, and technical packages within PLM
  • Attend all fittings and review all incoming prototypes
  • Give design comments for each proto stage
  • Work with PD to develop seasonal trims
  • Assist with color selection
  • Work with marketing and customer service departments to provide design information
  • General office upkeep and organization
  • Complete ad-hoc tasks and assignments as needed
  • Role reports directly to Design Director

Job Requirements (Qualifications and personal attributes):

  • Bachelors degree in fashion or related field
  • +5 years experience in either Product Development or Design
  • Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with high quality fabric selection
  • Background in Technical Outerwear
  • Ability to build tech-packs – Design sketches and BOMs
  • Experience with PLM a plus
  • Great communication and organizational skills
  • Enthusiastic about the work
  • Thrives in a small business environment
  • Flexible and adaptable within a fast-paced environment
  • Effective time management
  • Possess ability to sketch and CAD design details
  • Knowledge of garment construction
  • Have a can-do attitude!
  • Must be able and willing to lift and carry up to 10 lbs., perform frequent repetitive finger, hand and wrist motions, as well as, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
