Designer, Children’s Apparel

Rylee + Cru Collective is a global children’s apparel company focusing on babies, children, and women, featuring hand-drawn illustrations and timeless silhouettes. We have three brands within the Collective – Rylee + Cru, Quincy Mae, and Noralee.

The Designer has a crucial role in collaborating with the design team to create and present product lines for babies and children that are relevant for multiple categories throughout the season. Due to the fast-paced nature of the work, the Designer must be skilled at handling tight deadlines, meeting critical calendar dates, and possess excellent organizational skills.

This position is full-time and in-house, located at our offices in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the Creative Director, Sr. Designer, & Sales Director to understand the conceptual direction for the total product assortment.
  • Conduct market research to identify new trends, fabrics, techniques, and design inspiration.
  • Collaborate with team members to create new concepts and silhouettes, make edits to the line, and research inspiration for the creation of cohesive collections each season.
  • Create production sketches for development packages.
  • Effectively use Adobe Illustrator for the CADs and line-plan development.
  • Prepare Tech Packs with fabric, trim, & construction detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate ideas and inspirations to others and with our overseas factories.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in design or fine arts, or college degree in fashion design or related field.
  • 3yrs+ experience in fashion design.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Suite, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Excellent design and conceptual skills.
  • Excellent sense of style and color.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Illustration background is a plus!

The details:

Location: Office and studio located in San Diego, CA.

Hours: Typical business hours with the flexibility required as business needs dictate (9 am-5 pm)
