Job descriptionWhat You'll Do:- Understand the Michael Kors aesthetic and translate it into brand appropriate commercial product.
- Oversee seasonal conceptualization and creation of design concepts and styles for the Mainline Handbag division.
- Responsible for entire product design process including market research, mood board creation, designing, sketching, specing and function.
- Oversee product from concept right up to production and communicate any changes to the appropriate cross-functional partners.
- Actively participate in the conceptual development of innovative and directional product lines (i.e., selling ideas/concepts and convincing others to adopt a course of action)
- Partner with cross functional divisions to achieve consistency in product across categories.
- Maintain a library of HB specific seasonal product offerings, master specs, and design standards.
- Responsible for researching global markets to identify new trends, materials, novelty techniques, etc.
- Ensure that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy; interpret international/domestic concepts and fashion trends as it relates to market demands, company image and business strategy.
- Manages technical designs of all products from design to the factories.
- Provide recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, new concepts, etc.

- Partner with cross functional divisions to achieve consistency in product across categories. Communicate any changes and lead the themes per season for accessories
- Conduct spec review sessions.
- Able to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Manage the selection of materials with the materials team each season.

ProfileWho You Are:As the Designer of Women's Accessories, you have a strong background in handbag design. You are detail oriented, organized, have strong technical skills and the ability to multitask and manage competing calendar deadlines. You are collaborative, a strong communicator, results driven and thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
You'll Need to Have:
- 6-8 years of design experience within accessories
- Bachelor's Degree in Accessories Design or equivalent
- Strong Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Skills to multitask and manage competing calendar deadlines
- The ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas/new concepts
- Experience communicating the development with factories
- Ability to work in NYC Office 3-4 days/week
- Excellent sense of style and color
- Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and presentation skills
- The ability to think strategically, drive results and build a high-performance organization
- In-depth knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color ways, construction techniques, leather and trim
- Strong leadership skills
