Designer/Fashion Merchandiser

Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic rock star who is enthusiastic, motivated, and excels in a busy environment to support the CEO directly by driving product strategy and communication. They will play a pivotal role in the brand by building and managing the assortment line. Must have the enthusiasm for fashion and a thorough understanding of the industry. Must be a mentally strong individual with a passion for women empowerment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Trend forecasting & some design experience preferred
  • Knowledge of communicating with vendors overseas
  • Research and source materials and trims
  • Research customer demographics and understanding their motivation and sales drivers
  • Manage and maintain inventory levels
  • Develop and manage a budget for each department
  • Control and manage pricing and product cost
  • Manage all product development with manufactures and suppliers
  • Assist and create a time and action calendar for development and launch of products with Design Director
  • Negotiating with manufacturers and suppliers

Required Skills

  • A highly motivated individual able to converse with all levels both internally and externally.
  • A self-starter able to set the standard by their own professionalism and attitude.
  • Must be energetic self-motivated and self-organized.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to meet above responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills as evidenced by an ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
  • Decisive, structured, organized, with a keen eye for detail.

  • High competency level with various PC applications (MS Office)
  • Assist and support in developing print designs for 52 capsule collections a year
  • Extensively research tear sheets, mood images, trends, prints, colors, and silhouettes for each season
  • Work Closely with design team to help develop the fit and specifications for samples
  • Have a hand in reviewing/approving incoming production samples, strike-offs, dips, and design submits
  • Collaborate with all design teams and cross-functional teams throughout the design process

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising Preferred or comparable experience.
  • Internship and/or related work experience
  • Excellent Work Ethic & idea generator
