The Director of Store Design/Branded Environments is responsible for leading development and implementation of interior designs for stores, a brand leader, a reliable executor, strong verbal and creative communicator and experienced strategist. This role will develop and drive innovation in the product storytelling and can execute ideas in the branded environment. As well as special initiatives they need to be prepared to support emerging ideas such as pop-up stores, shows and special event spaces across SBH.

This includes development of big Ideas and delivery of the Sally Beauty brand campaigns including; windows, cluster store support, production, packaging, design innovation surprise the consumer and inspire the team. As a member of the marketing leadership team this role contributes heavily to concept, design production, fixture development, packaging design and production, print management, and the omni-channel experience. They must be ready to work cross functionally and with the senior leadership team, effectively present and manage feedback and react to the business. This requires a deep knowledge of consumer journey and pulse on industry innovation. A role that is strategic and highly executional this leads design innovation, printing techniques, a strong level of planning and partnering. It requires effective partnerships with merch space planning, construction, store operations and field marketing.

This strategic visual leader can manage change and execute with excellence. Knowing that the customer experience is very fluid across channels this leader will need to innovate in the store environment and affectively integrate with the mobile experience.

Responsibilities

  • You have a feverish desire to solve customer problems and help navigate the obstacles that may stand in their way. At the same time, you know that what's best for the company may not always be in line with each individual customer and result in tension.

    • Strategic guidance and coaching to accomplish the task. Contributes to and manages the development and execution of a wide variety of promotional and communications materials.
    • Looks to continually "raise the bar" and by staying informed of customer-centric trends and behaviors, streamlining processes, and planning improvements.
    • Lead all aspects of identifying and incorporating new design elements and finishes, interior/exterior details and branded aesthetics to attract growth customers to our stores while supporting our Merchandise priorities and marketing strategy
    • Partner with Architecture Partners, Store Ops, Procurement and Construction team members to bring each environment to fruition from concept through completion
    • Develop and execute a strategic immediate and long-term store design vision with the goal of creating highly engaging, customer centric branded environments
    • Oversees, evaluates and improves work of all internal creative teams to ensure that projects are on strategy, high quality, effective and technically correct. Leads, mentors, advises and oversees the entire creative team. Fosters and develops creative talent among the team. Facilitates packaging innovation and production.

      • Integrate merchandise planograms into technical construction floor plans to create a compelling shopping experience for customersDirects and collaborates with external creative partners and agencies. Assigns them work, provides them with creative direction, reviews work and integrates their concepts/work with internal concepts and work.
      • Lead a team with keen understanding of visual hierarchy as it relates to the design and placement of way finding, graphics, packaging, signage, pop displays, store windows and overall store design elements. Partners with Campaign Directors to integrate ideas across the consumer journey.
      • Research, identify, develop and adapt interior design trends, materials, fixtures and finishes in support of a diverse range of branded retail spaces
      • Partners with executive management and partners to ensure creative collaboration and strategic planning, project objectives and brand requirements are met. Leads and executes marketing initiatives while also working cross-functionally with the appropriate teams internally.Develops new concepts and contributes to business initiatives and special projects.

Profile

Qualifications

- 10+ years of experience with retail design/architecture or relevant interior design experience preferred - At least 7+ years' experience leading and building a team effectively- Full understanding of architectural design process from Schematic Design through Construction - Strong hand sketching and presentation skills to quickly explore plan options, perspectives, and details while collaborating with Architects, GC's, Merchants, Marketing or Store Operations - Experience working with multiple vendors on RFP's to achieve quality designs, lighting flooring finishes etc. that meet technical, branded and budgetary requirements - Fluency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite to quickly produce plan options, design elevations, and schematic details. Fluency in a 3D program (Sketchup, Rhino, or 3d studio) for design details/renderings.- Constantly innovate, looking for newness and efficiencies for each portion of the store design - Strong management, delegation, and communication skills to oversee a team of designers working on a large complex volume of store design projects - Identify and confirm technical specs for messaging opportunities within each unique floor-plan and surrounding space (interior/exterior) - Ability to plan for and meet aggressive project schedules and budgets - Self-confidence and composure to accept critique, process it, and apply the learning to improve- Resourcefulness and fearlessness in solving problems, overcoming obstacles, and exploring the unknown
