About the Role & Team

As the Director of Technology for Demand Planning (Assortment Planning, Digital Demand Sensing) you will lead the Global rollout, deployment, and adoption of AI/ML-driven demand planning solution on o9 enabling Nike to create multi-season Demand Signal driven by consumer preferences, retail sales, and profitability metrics that align top-down financial targets with product line/assortment plans.

This is a key capability central to Nike’s consumer-direct acceleration strategy and this Engineering Leadership role will play a critical role across the enterprise Planning as we reset our technical strategy and as we engage with other tech leaders to accelerate the technology and Digital roadmaps.

You will be a forward-thinking technology leader with a keen business sense and experience in building Demand Planning Platforms and Solutions. You will lead teams of engineers, technical product & program managers. You will influence the end-to-end strategy across technology and partner closely with a shared Enterprise Architecture, Data and Analytics group. You will partner with Platform peers and Business Leaders to craft the digital systems of the future.

You will guide the team within a matrixed environment to continually improve upon its ability to deliver fast, reliably, at a global scale, with security, and to the delight of our customers.

What you will work on
  • Be a thought leader in creating the next generation Demand Planning Platform and solution leveraging capabilities on the o9 Platform.
  • Set the direction in building scalable API and front-end UX design and experience.
  • Build technical vision and strategy and translate those into tangible milestone-based plans in partnership with Product Management Organization.
  • Accountable for the technical direction of the group, leveraging technical experts and fostering technical innovation.
  • Lead engineering teams as we continue to scale, and build a high-performance, elite engineering organization.
  • Drive the creation of Logical and Technical Architecture to support product near and long-term strategy and priorities.
  • Partner with leadership to develop a technology strategy that enables our products, platforms, and user experiences to be more analytics & data-driven, experimental, and deeply personalized.
  • Transform (build/buy/recommend) our technology stack that orchestrates customer engagement journeys with an eye toward optimizing Margins and supporting Nike’s revenue growth.
  • Be an advocate for our data consumers, and drive innovation in delivering consistent, reliable, scalable, and predictable capabilities.
  • Obsess with analytics, data-driven decision-making, and the need for an outstanding demand planning platform
  • Provide hard-working, innovative, and inspiring leadership and support for our Engineering organization.
  • Recruit strong engineering talents that represent the diversity of our audience, with clear and consistent hiring strategies.
  • Build and maintain a culture of modesty, execution excellence, collaboration, mentorship, and open feedback.
What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related field or combination of relevant education, experience, and training.
  • 7+ years of software development experience, including data engineering or analytics space. Experience in engineering solutions on Cloud-based Architecture with technologies agnostic across multiple cloud providers like AWS and Azure is preferred.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.
  • Collaborate and lead technical resources to define the solution and technical architecture to support the solutions.
  • Extensive exposure of working with Product and Business teams is needed.
  • Self-directed and adept at working in ambiguous environments
  • The ability to establish credibility through vision, thought leadership, technical expertise, and implementation of connected planning platforms
  • In-depth knowledge with practical hands-on experience in leading teams to implement Demand or Assortment Planning Solutions for Retail using packaged solutions in any of the following (o9, Anaplan, Oracle, Blue Yonder, SAP)
  • Proven credential in designing and delivering large scale, complex content, analytics and Demand Planning platforms.
  • Provide best-in-class insights from a range of industry experience to help guide on how to evolve and develop Demand Planning & Forecasting platforms.
  • Have experience in leading software engineering teams in building multi-tiered web front applications on cloud using Java/React Framework.
  • Knowledge and experience in Engineering essentials such as languages (Java, Python, etc..), databases, CI/CD pipelines with DevOps or SRE approach.
  • Experience in the Retail Industry, with a good understanding of retail math and critical supply chain planning components.
  • In depth experience in implementing and leading Integration landscape using technologies like MuleSoft, Spring boot or similar platform.
  • Exposure and experience in SOA, Micro services architecture is needed.
  • Experience with leading AI & ML plus Data Engineering teams will be preferred.
  • Exposure to big scale ERP systems like SAP, Oracle is strongly desired.
