Enterprise Architect Payment Systems

The Payment Architect serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs for payment systems. Possesses expertise in the business unit(s) they support, as well as an understanding of the IT organization's systems and capabilities. Develops payment systems roadmaps, Designs, and solutions.


  • Provide strategic thinking, solutions and roadmaps to enable creation of modern payment platforms
  • Provide architectural strategy to integrate with payment and digital wallet providers

    • EFT Link Payment Gateway Stores
    • FiPay Applications Stores o ECOM Cybersource
    • Settlement
    • Private Label Credit Card (Bread Financial)
    • Verifone Payment Hardware Solutions
    • Mobile Wallet Solutions o Mobile Payment Applications
    • OMNI Channel payment solutions (Multi-Vendor)

  • Provide subject matter expertise in the following areas:
  • Displays strong thought leadership in pursuit of modern architecture principals and technology modernization
  • Drives continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt
  • Create a partnership with Senior Software Engineering
  • Looks for opportunities to capitalize on technology advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential impact on the enterprise
  • Defines and leads technology proof of concepts to ensure feasibility of architecture solutions - Hands-on prototyping of new technology solutions
  • Continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of the architecture
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Keeping track together with the team on new trends and technology within the Payments area
  • Review and approve design solutions created by external suppliers
  • Supporting ongoing projects, such expansion into the pay by link/ mobile wallet, and payment systems hardware replacements in stores
  • Facilitate workshops together with internal and/or external stakeholders - Identify, participate and perform continuous improvement initiatives within payments for all selling channels

  • Bachelor's in technology related field or equivalent with 5+ years of technology Architecture experience
  • Experience implementing and supporting Payment or Finance systems
  • Experienced with large scale technology platforms
  • Provided mentorship to architects
  • Organizational and transformational experience in an agile operating mod
  • Establishes strategic technology direction and architecture vision for an organization
  • Strong proven Software Engineering experience
  • Developed technology target state, roadmaps that aligned to Short- and Long-term business goals
  • Proven track record of influencing senior leadership
  • Insurance technology experience
  • Strong grasp of value creation and business capability models - Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Must be passionate about technology transformations
  • Has hands on experience in the last 3 years
  • Executed technology modernization initiatives including migration to cloud native and API Strategy
  • High level of understanding of security rules for payments systems Critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed; ability to drive solutions to complex problems. Finds solutions using a systematic, multi-step approach. Initiates and innovations and solutions where precedents and procedures may not exist.
  • Is a subject matter expert in Payments and keeps up on trends and best practices in the payment systems realm. Has a high level of expertise in not only retail systems but related products that interact with all channels.
  • Ability to collaborate with groups and lead discussions toward setting and achieving goals and create cross-departmental plans to achieve them. Leverages multiple teams, actively encourages intra group cooperation.
  • Can self-prioritize work required to achieve goals and can assist others with supervision and prioritization of project-related goals. Develops goals for other groups or departments and manages them toward their goals as it relates to the needs of the retail systems solution.
  • Demonstrated ability to support multiple concurrent projects and responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to adapt communications to different audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technology
