Mestiza New York is continuing to grow our team. We are looking to hire a design and production associate with a focus on knits, lounge and soft accessories. This person should have an appetite for all things fashion, be highly organized, and show a genuine eagerness to be involved in a rapidly growing e-commerce startup.
Responsibilities
- Collaborating with chief creative officer, RTW designer, merchandising team and factories to develop and produce knits, loungewear and soft accessories
- Constant communicating with knitwear & lounge factories
- Work with production coordinator to manage sample shipments
- Maintaining shipping deadlines for sample and bulk production
- Creating detailed tech packs for RTW, knits, lounge and soft accessories
- Analyze designs and determine required resources and project deadlines.
- Update and maintain tech packs throughout the season
- Produce thorough and accurate technical drawings, including construction details, testing requirements, and packaging and labeling specifications
- Implement design changes and contingency plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with Merchandise team, RTW designer and chief creative officer to evaluate all styles during fittings, ensuring comments for strike-offs/lab dips/samples are submitted in a timely manner
- Ensure quality control standards with vendors are followed
- Protect brand integrity through fit continuity, upholding construction standards and consistency, ensuring all details uphold Mestiza brand identity
- Evaluate muslin prototypes to ensure that they are free from defects.
- Maintain a detailed work-in-progress log that is available for all team members to review
- Maintain detailed costing sheets throughout season for all products
- Lend support to RTW Design Team as needed with print & embellishment design
- Collaborate with merchandising & RTW design team on season development
- Ensure colors/prints/embellishments are consistent across factories and product categories
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in fashion, technical design, or a related field.
- 0-3 years’ experience for junior positions.
- Practical experience with software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Knowledge and experience with pattern-making
