The Position

Fashion Designer


Chicago, IL

**On-site, Remote, or Hybrid role


The Fashion Designer will work with the Apparel Buying/Product team at AKIRA. This position will support the Buying team to create merchandise designs that meet trends and business needs of the company. As a Fashion Designer with AKIRA you will have the opportunity to create unique product designs that are truly original to our brand.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with Buying/Product Development team to create pieces for seasonal collections
  • Researching current fashion trends and customer demand to create trendy designs for product
  • Partnering with Buyers on product development deadlines
  • Prepare line and presentation materials for Buyer meetings
  • Ensures that Brand quality, fit, desired appearance, and quality construction standards are met and maintained


  • Strong photoshop skills and photo manipulation skills
  • 2 years of design experience & creating technical packs and flats
  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design or related field
  • Extremely creative with ability to analyze and understand the AKIRA customer
  • Strong understanding of construction of fit

  • Outstanding organizational skills, with keen attention to detail and diligent task follow-through

  • Highly collaborative, responsive team player
