  • Creates and updates Spec for all product categories for brand
  • Works collaboratively with Senior Shoe Designer to update measurements and ensure construction and production are accurate and on schedule to meet all established deadlines
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Manage product life cycle from pre-production through production
  • Collaboration: Oversee initial sample specifications from the Design sketch; Establish a close partnership with the Design team to facilitate the interpretation of Design concepts to maintain design integrity.
  • Fitting and Specification: Schedule, prepare for, and conduct fittings on LIVE Fit Models to assess footwear and advise fit corrections to overseas teams and factories; Create initial spec to final full graded spec; Evaluate fit to determine manufacturer has met the requirements of the footwear; Ensure all specs and detailed fit comments are conveyed to vendors accurately and on time
  • Assess new lasts, heels, and sole unit blueprints and ensure accuracy/compliance to established standards; Evaluate mechanical and mock-up mold from initial drawing to confirmation
  • Technical Specification: Generate computerized technical specification packages; Review and evaluate samples for spec, pattern, shape, and construction; Consult with Designers to work through complicated footwear construction to establish fit; collaborate with Design to update measurements and specifications for the tech pack
  • Communication: Communicate with overseas offices and vendors to identify and resolve issues with footwear construction and production; Meet with the Production Team weekly to review sample approval status to ensure Time and Action Calendar compliance; Interact daily with agents, overseas offices, and vendors to problem-solve all issues related to footwear engineering throughout the product lifecycle
  • Corrections and Approvals: Utilize digital photos, technical sketches, detailed instructions, and comments from Fitting to communicate corrections; Approve footwear for production or reject sample and schedule follow-up Fitting


  • 3 or more years of Technical Design
  • College degree, or equivalent professional work experience, required
  • Extensive knowledge of footwear construction; Proven expertise in apparel fitting, specs, and patterns
  • Technical skill Proficiency using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, and MS Excel, required
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills with critical attention to detail
  • Confident, engaging verbal and written communication skills
  • Motivated to work in a high-energy environment at the speed of fashion with ever-changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and work to meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with other departments as well as vendors and other overseas offices
