An American specialty retailer is seeking to hire a freelance Associate Sweater Designer for their women's team to support the creation of original product design through vision and AI illustration of design concepts and artwork into clothing appropriate for their customers. Principal Accountabilities: Assist in identifying seasonal fashion direction, assortment opportunities, and merchandise trends for areas of responsibility Serve as liaison between Design, Product Development, and Technical Design and Merchandising to ensure information flow is accurate throughout the development process Responsible for technical package process, to include drawings, measurements, and design detail specifications and hand off to Technical Design Maintain thorough knowledge of the line (silhouettes, yarns, and design details) and is responsible for tracking changes/additions Assist during fit sessions and take notes as needed. Maintain specification sheets, trim sheets, and pitch sheets Participate in concept presentation and line building recaps, in addition to line presentation Assist in making design presentation boards Research competitive market and present results and ideas Assist in executing designs to the Conceptual Assortment Plan slots while staying within the predetermined development ratios Continue to develop and increase understanding of our customer People ManagementKey partners include: Product Management, Merchandising, Fabric and Color teams, Technical Design, and Vendors Build collaborative relationships with vendors and internal clients Interface professionally and work effectively in group settings

Education/Experience/Knowledge: Knowledge and experience at a level normally acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree 5+ years of related experience Must have experience in machine knit sweater category with technical knowledge of gauge, yarn count, stitch and jacquard constructions Independent, self-motivated, and detail-oriented. Clear verbal and written communication skills Must be highly organized Able to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced office environment Must be highly collaborative in a team environment Strong work ethic and follow through Strong computer skills especially Adobe Illustrator as well as Photoshop and Microsoft Office. Working experience using MS Teams a plus
