ABOUT THE ROLE

We are in search of a Freelance Jewelry Designer that will support the Design Director at TSC. This role will assist the Design Director in technical drawing and concepting, and as such we are looking for someone with strong technical / CAD and hand drawing skills. A passion for gemstones and significant knowledge of fine jewelry construction is also required. The ability to clearly and concisely communicate in writing, verbally, and through technical sketches and sample specifications is a must.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and update technical specifications to complete design tech packs. 
  • Collaborate with the Design Director to understand the TSC vision and provide feedback. 
  • Ensure that Temple St. Clair brand's language is consistent and appropriate throughout all products.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with design, product development and merchandising teams.
  • Revise and update mechanicals according to proto samples.
  • If any foreseen problems are detected, offer alternatives without compromising the look of the piece.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in jewelry, accessory design, or related area (BFA, BA, GIA, JD).
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in jewelry design and development.
  • Must know Rhino (Intermediate level).
  • Strong knowledge in Adobe CS applications: Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • Must be available for 2-3 days/week in our Soho studio.
  • Time management skills with the ability to drive to completion with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized, very detail oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Experience in Luxury Jewelry design and/or Product Development is a required.
  • Gemstone knowledge a big plus.
