We are looking for an optimistic and solutions-driven Merchandising Manager that will help Nike co-create the “New Soul of Basketball” through our Licensed Basketball Apparel assortments with a sharp focus on the National Basketball Association (NBA). This is a Global Merchandising role within the Global Product Merchandising function located at WHQ in Portland, OR. Global Merchandising leads Product Line Architecture, drives Product Line Plan, establishes Franchise and Classification excellence, and is the pivot between Global Product Creation and the Geography Merchandising teams.
The candidate should be a consumerist and basketball industry expert; understanding the increasingly diverse consumers and their behaviors to plan assortments and elevate consumer sport moments. They are informed on the industry landscape and the role of the NBA in expanding the reach of basketball globally.
A consistent part of your day-to-day responsibilities will be to manage and maintain seasonal tools and assortments, as well as long-term strategic line planning to empower seamless Geography execution. It will also be critical to develop and maintain key relationships among Global cross-functional teammates, Geography Merchandising counterparts, and external partners, ensuring clear and concise communication with alignment and collaboration at all key deliverables.
Who You Will Work WithAs a Merchandising Manager, this person will report to the Director of Merchandising for Licensed Sports Apparel at Nike. This person will also be responsible for managing, coaching, and developing an Associate Merchant within Licensed Basketball Apparel.
In the role, you will work in partnership to build, manage, and drive the end-to-end process for the Nike x NBA strategy. This strategy will come to life through collaboration with cross-functional partners in Product Creation, Consumer Planning, Sports Marketing, Brand Marketing, Geography Merchandising, as well as the broader Nike Basketball leadership team.
What You Bring
- Bachelor/Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least 6 years of experience in Product Merchandising, in a vertical or wholesale environment
- Experience translating consumer insights into assortment strategies and plans
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentations to various internal and external partners
- Proven ability to lead and influence through complexity
- Track record of implementing new strategies and leading in cross-functional settings
- Self-directed, independent, agile, and dedicated, with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and seasons at a time
- Demonstrate strong business proficiency as well as consumer and retail acumen
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
