Manager, Merchandising (Outdoor Footwear)

You have a passion for the art and science of product, retail, consumer, and analytics and you bring an understanding of retail environments, including digital, and a consumer-focused perspective to the team and business. You will report to the Merchandising Director and support day-to-day line management activities in accordance with seasonal Go-To-Market (GTM) and Product Creation milestones and deliverables. With focus on supporting our commitment to footwear growth and the elevation of our Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) strategy, you play a leading role in constructing “Head-to-Toe” (HTT) offerings and integrated story-telling moments. With energy and enthusiasm, you support and contribute to strategic discussions on product briefs, line planning, seasonal strategy, and regional merchandising feedback. In addition, you will transform and incorporate key seasonal strategies into optimal assortments for the end consumer. As a trusted member of our team, you manage one to two direct reports which may include an associate manager and a product line specialist.

How You Will Make a Difference

In this role, you will contribute to advancing our global business initiatives and support the Global Product Merchandising team through the following.

What you will do:

  • Develop a global line plan using historical data, analytics, consumer insight, and market feedback that meets or exceeds seasonal targets, wins with our consumer, and satisfies regional channel and tier requirements
  • Compile, analyze, and monitor product lifecycle plans reviewing family/pattern/SKU (store keeping units) performance against trend and marketplace insights and create product briefs with clear intent and targets for design and development
  • Create GTM milestone presentations and present strategic product initiatives to internal partners and stakeholders
  • Present line to internal merchants highlighting key features and benefits of new product and validate the seasonal marketing stories as they relate to the channels and tiers
  • Lead and facilitate creation of seasonal DTC centric integrated visual assortment planning tools and templates and oversee the management of samples

How you will do it:

  • Collaborate and liaise with both the regional and global merchandising partners, design, development, engineering, and marketing
  • Work in partnership with cross-category teammates
  • Coordinate and manage the team to meet all product creation and GTM milestones ensuring data integrity throughout the process
  • In concert with the regional merchandising teams, ensure the specific needs of each region are met
  • Coordinate with design, development, and costing to achieve on-time delivery of product to market that meets margin targets
  • Partner with the footwear, apparel and accessories merchandising teams to ensure alignment across all seasonal story-telling opportunities
  • Manage meetings with the regional merchants, development and design teams to review costing and product throughout the GTM stage gates

Skills for Success

Years of Related Professional Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in footwear merchandising, product creation, buying and/or retail in a vertical, multi-brand or digital environment.

Educational Position Requirements:

A formal education and subsequent undergraduate/graduate degrees such as a bachelor’s degree or higher, are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements and combination of relevant education, experience, and training.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, in English
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

  • The ability to be organized and prioritize multiple initiatives under tight timelines
  • The ability to identify and address problems independently
  • The ability to travel internationally
