WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Global Retail Merchandising Director to be the product, assortment, and retail merchandising expert driving Concept development & evolution for Nike. This role owns the creation and evolution of merchandising & assortment frameworks that bring to life a specific Concept’s consumer & marketplace positioning while also driving efficiency and profitability. This person will need Merchandising, Buying, and/or Planning experience within Nike Direct or a vertical retailer. Additionally, the ability to operate in the grey and work entrepreneurially to create a vision, set direction, and provide clarity will be critical as you build out this role to drive value for Nike.


WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
If this is you, you will be the product, assortment, and retail merchandising leader on the cross-functional Concept Development team. This person will be accountable for all seasonless merchandising/assortment strategies & frameworks during a Concept’s development & evolution across not only Men’s, Women’s, and Kid’s but also Footwear, Apparel, and Accessories. Additionally, you will partner with Brand Jordan to build an aligned Nike & Jordan Global point of view. Partnership & collaboration will be essential as you work with the cross-functional team to ensure the Concept’s product/assortment strategies are centered in the work and fuel other function’s work & decisions. Additionally, you will serve as a critical pivot into Global & Geo teams to ensure alignment across the various strategies to drive a singular Nike product experience & voice at retail when the consumer is in the store.


WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
This individual will work across a highly cross functional team within Nike Stores consisting of the Consumer & Concept team as well as Store Development team on the consumer and product experience. Additionally, functional experts in Styling & Visual Merchandising, Demand & Supply Management, Consumer Direct Retail Design, and Consumer Direct Marketing will be key partners in perfecting the product & assortment strategies. General collaboration with Global Nike Direct Digital Commerce & Membership to ensure alignment to these plans will be required to ensure an O2O experience for consumers is delivered.

This vision you build with your partners will need to be informed by the Men’s, Women’s, & Kid’s strategies as well as the Geographies marketplace opportunities! As a result, collaboration and socialization with the broader Merchandising team will be pivotal to developing and landing a clear and useful strategy in service of consumer & financial targets.


WHAT YOU BRING

- Bachelor/Master degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
-  8-10 years of experience in a Merchandising, Buying, and/or Planning role within Nike Direct or a vertical retailer; Brick & Mortar scope highly preferred.

-  Proficiency in retail & profit-based metrics

-  Understanding of the end-in-mind and awareness on how decisions affect the product & consumer experience in stores

-  Track record of balancing art & science to develop productive, profitable, and visually compelling assortment strategies that serve consumers, drive the business, and elevate the brand.

-  Dynamic leader who embraces change, is comfortable with ambiguity, and always looking for ways to improve self & business

-  Strong verbal & written communication skills, across culture preferred, including meeting facilitation and presentations

-  Passionate about retail with a bias for action to turn emerging consumer & marketplace trends into business results

-  Understanding & experience of the marketplace at a Global, Geo, and Key City level preferred
