To that end, we are now recruiting for a vital and exciting role in our business, Head of Content and Design for Waitrose & Partners.

This position reports into our Customer Director and the successful candidate will be leading a large team of around 75 Partners and 8 direct reports.

As a leader in our business and key member of our Customer Directorate, you will be leading the Creative Profession, responsible for inspiring, challenging and empowering your teams to deliver world class design across the end to end customer journey - in store and online.

This includes brand design, packaging, store design, marketing campaigns, tone of voice, content, imagery creation and design for our publications.

It will be your responsibility to drive best in class design and content across all our channels, bringing Waitrose to life for customers experiencing the brand across all our touch points wherever and whenever they engage with us.

In shops you will work with colleagues in Customer Experience and Brand to ensure all formats inspire customers throughout their end-to-end journey. With the design and editorial teams you will ensure they create truly omnichannel assets that build and enhance the brand, enabling Waitrose to 'show up' as briefed to drive brand, customer and commercial outcomes.

This is a blended working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and the Bracknell Head Office. However, there will also be an expectation to visit other locations as the need arises.

The key responsibilities of this role include;

  • Be an ambassador for Waitrose in your role, creating respect for your profession; the brand; your colleagues and our customers.
  • Lead and inspire all your teams by defining a clear ambition; intent, direction and guardrails to achieve the outcomes set for the brand and our Partnership strategy.
  • Work closely with your peers in the Customer Directorate to develop an in-depth understanding of our target customers, and develop this into a cogent and consistent design strategy across all our channels within stores and online.
  • Ensure the Waitrose & Partners brand maintains and develops its world-leading design and content standards and "shows up" at its best through packaging, store design, marketing campaigns, tone of voice, content, imagery creation and publications.
  • Ensure Waitrose & Partners maintains and develops its leading edge in the market by utilising data, insight and creative flair to maximise opportunities as the retail sector continues to change and evolve.
  • Support the Customer Director to build capability and establish ways of working to deliver the best customer and business outcomes for the brand

What you'll have:

  • Significant experience in the creative industries, with a strong digital background
  • Proven abililty to lead an internal or external team with responsibility for all the design and content disciplines and specialisms outlined above
  • Significant experience and proven ability to lead and empower teams to achieve excellence
  • Proven ability to innovate, ideate and create a vision for world-leading design and content
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of brand design across the entire customer journey
  • A real passion and knowledge of food retail
