About Us

The yet-to-be-named stealth shopping startup will be creating a new, digitally-native video commerce platform launching this fall and backed by Qurate Retail Group, a family of leading retail brands – QVC®, HSN®, Zulily®, Ballard Designs®, Frontgate®, Garnet Hill® and Grandin Road® – all dedicated to providing a more human way to shop. Qurate Retail Group is No. 1 in video commerce (“vCommerce”), which includes video-driven shopping across linear TV, ecommerce sites, digital streaming and social platforms.

This new startup will be led by seasoned entrepreneur Matt Matros and will be building an office and team based in New York City. We are tasked with attracting new video commerce customers via their small screens including smart phones and other mobile devices Although the startup will enjoy autonomy to create a new consumer-centric shopping experience, it will also leverage expertise and resources of Qurate Retail Group at large.

This will be the first startup initiative from Qurate Retail Group’s newest business unit - vCommerce Ventures - which is designed to accelerate our innovation in livestream commerce and establish our leadership in this space while also supporting the continued expansion of QVC’s and HSN’s linear video commerce experiences to new audiences. vCommerce Ventures brings together livestream commerce teams and initiatives from across QVC and HSN into a separate, global business unit, with dedicated marketing, business development, content development and production, programming, planning, and merchandising resources. About The Role

Overview & Responsibilities

The shopper is at the core of everything we do in designing our startup, so we are looking for someone obsessed with our shopper. As ourHead of Visual Merchandising & E-Commerce,you’ll be the eyes – and thumbs – of our shopper as she engages with our e-commerce website and mobile app.

Our ideal candidate has expert knowledge of what drives digital purchase intent and has an obsession with creating the right user experiences that drive it. This person understands that our e-commerce website and mobile experiences are the literal storefront of our business and is responsible for ‘minding the store.’ You’ll create rich digital experiences that drive engagement, ultimately driving sales.

Working closely with the Head of Merchandising, you will be responsible for ensuring we are creating the visual and user experience for our shopper across our owned website and digital experience.

But your work does not stop with our mobile app and web experience. You’ll also work with our partners YouTube, Tiktok and Instagram to ensure the commerce functions within those platforms remove friction and maximize sales.

You’ll also work closely with our web development partners, our visual design agency, and Shopify to create a truly dazzling e-commerce experience for our shopper

Day-to-day Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

  • Be the eyes (and thumbs) of our shopper – ensuring the digital storefront with promote on our owned web and mobile app is maximized to user experience and ultimately sales.
  • Utilizing data and working in tandem with our Head of Merchandising, analyze commerce performance and create strategies and tactics that delivers on our sales and engagement goals.
  • Own the e-commerce experience from end-to-end: starting with our brands, through our e-commerce enablers (Shopify) and through to the returns process, if necessary.
  • Work closely with out partners YouTube, TikTok and Instagram to ensure the click-to-buy features on those platforms are as frictionless as possible.
  • Create visual retail events on a seasonal or monthly basis, designed to promote activity, buzz and ultimately sales.
  • Work with our Head of Content & Programming to ensure content is created that maximize sales in our e-commerce experiences.
  • Develop our main performance KPIs and a dashboard to measure those KPIs.
  • Liaise with our digital development partner and design agency to ensure UX goals are met.

What You Will Need

  • 7+ years of direct e-commerce experience, either as a Buyer / Merchandiser or a Visual Merchandiser for a digital retailer or other digital commerce roles within retailers or DTC brands.
  • Experience working with e-commerce enablement tools and vendors across the entire e-commerce value chain from commerce enablement (e.g. Shopify) to demand generation (e.g. Klaviyo) to CRM (e.g. Hubspot) to fulfillment / returns (e.g. Happy Returns)
  • Fearlessness and comfortability taking risks but also ‘failing fast’, being agile enough to respond in real time to shopper usage behaviors
  • Extensive experience in data analysis across e-commerce and digital experience performance metrics
  • An understanding of the ‘cool factor’ that our audience is seeking
  • Proficiency with Zoom, Word, Excel, Outlook, basic web-savvy, PowerPoint
  • A demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective interpersonal and business relations
  • Strong coaching, listening and team building skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with executives, agents, and others in the creative community
  • The ability to multitask and work effectively with changing priorities and deadlines is required

Nice-To-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Startup DTC or new e-commerce business experience
  • Experience creating retail sales events
  • Experience with acquisition strategies across the digital landscape
  • Located in New York or with the ability to relocate to New York
