SUMMARY:

3.1 Phillip Lim is looking for a Knitwear Technical Designer to join our 3.1 Team in our NYC Design Office. This position will be responsible for supporting and evaluating fit, construction and details of garment from development through production, and must have a detailed knowledge of sweater stitches, gauges and yarn qualities.

What you will do:

DEVELOPMENT

  • Work closely with the design team and overseas factories to develop seasonal styles using blocks and generating specs for protos
  • Create accurate and detailed tech packs including construction details, POMS, & fit comments to send to overseas counter parts for prototypes, SMS and production samples
  • Participate in weekly fit sessions, documenting all garments changes and communicating this information to overseas factories
  • Communicate & troubleshoot with overseas factories daily regarding development, construction, corrections & fit of seasonal prototypes
  • Measure and check all prototypes prior to fittings
  • Review all salesman samples with Design and PD for craftsmanship and finishing upon receipt. (Relay any comments to factory, and ensure corrections are captured for production)
  • Work closely with woven tech team on managing fit schedules and priorities

PRODUCTION

  • Generate accurate and detailed tech packs including construction details, POMS and fit comments to send to overseas factories to request PP samples
  • Responsible for fitting preparation, including spec and sample construction review
  • Participate in weekly fit sessions, documenting all garments changes and communicating this information to overseas factories
  • Work with Design & Production teams to ensure that garment quality and overall desired asthenic is met for production samples
  • Work with production team on managing approval deadlines

What you'll have:

  • 5+ years of knitwear technical design experience
  • Must have an understanding of garment fit in knitwear and garment construction
  • Detailed knowledge of sweater stitches, gauges and yarn qualities.
  • The ability to precisely execute technical packs, technical sketches and fit comments
  • Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and Excel.
  • Must understand and plan workload based on department timelines.
  • Strong ability in proactiveness and ability to manage workload based on timelines
  • Basic knowledge of Cantonese and or Mandarin a plus
