The Merchandise / Category Analyst will directly support the Merchandising and Planning and Product Supply Functions through ongoing analysis of product performance and business trends of sunglasses and optical frames across Safilo’s broad portfolio of brands. This position will work cross-functionally to help translate performance data into successful short- and long-term product and assortment strategies that will allow Safilo to maximize sales, inventory productivity, and bottom-line profitability.


  • Analyze historical product performance and current business trends in support of seasonal merchandise/assortment plans and product development process. Work with internal teams to understand needs and growth opportunities by brand and product category.
  • Perform product sales analysis by brand and by category, drilling down to channel specific insights, regional trends, and material / price / color / size selling. Compile, develop and prepare reports, graphs and/or charts of findings.
  • Track relevant merchandise performance data and metrics including but not limited to sell-in and sell-through data, run rate and turn, used to develop actionable insights that will help to identify risks and maximize sales.
  • Facilitate logistics for quarterly line reviews, including database and document preparation and maintenance.
  • Prepare historical data and relevant analysis in support of product design briefings, new product rankings and hindsight business reviews.
  • Partner with Channel Planners and Key Account Coordinators to propose recommended sku lists for assortment planning, driving sales into key items / top performing SKUs to maximize revenue, in-stocks, and ensure best service levels and customer satisfaction.
  • Create a schedule to keep track of important deadlines, project instructions and progress for related cross functional activities
  • Conduct detailed ad-hoc analysis when required on specific products or product groups.
  • Continuously seek deep competitor insight and trend prediction of category


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 yearsof experience in planning, merchandising, buying or sales analysis.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work across vast amounts of data from difference data sources
  • Strong quantitative skills, with ability to compile and analyze data
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attentive to details
  • Flexible with the ability to set priorities and pivot as needed
  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively
  • Sense of urgency and accuracy
  • Possess strong communication skills including the ability to work in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback and is a solid verbal and written communicator.
  • Knowledge of eyewear industry or experience in fashion accessory field is preferred.
