Merchandise Planner
Job Description
The Merchandise Planner position is responsible for demand planning and inventory management to maintain sufficient inventory levels to meet cross-channel customer demand. The position is a key support role within the company that will work closely with our supply chain and sales departments to help improve forecasting, better leverage inventory, and improve the decision-making process using data and information. This position requires an individual that is well-organized, detail-oriented, and data-driven to understand channel and item-level trends to ensure inventory is managed efficiently and ultimately meets our consumer demand.
Responsibilities
- Support multiple sales channels through planning and inventory analysis by communicating and collaborating with cross-functional internal business teams and external partners
- Calculate item, category, and channel-level inventory forecasts and assist in rolling up total inventory replenishment needs
- Provide input to seasonal assortment sku planning based on historical performance and current trends
- Forecast, review, and analyze inventory performance, overstocks, and closeout items to maintain optimum inventory turns and achievement of targeted inventory levels
- Proactively manage and allocate inventory between NetSuite locations based on independent analysis to support business needs
- Assist team members with various reporting needs including inventory and sales analysis, incoming shipments, and daily reports
- Analyze and communicate sku level ETAs of inbound inventory to the necessary internal teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in retail management, business analytics, or related field
- 3-5 years in inventory planning and allocation, retail buying, or data analytics
- Understanding of inventory analysis including weeks of supply, inventory trends, and inventory forecasting
- Expert proficiency in Excel required - lookups, pivot tables, complex formulas, robust document creation and maintenance
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal cross-functional teams and external business partners
- An enjoyment of data analysis and problem-solving, process improvement identification, and providing recommendations for creative solutions
- Comfortable managing competing priorities through strong organizational skills, and using logical analysis for decision making
- This position is in office in Richmond, VA and is NOT REMOTE
