Hollywood Feed is currently seeking to fill a Merchandiser position. This position is a 45-50 hour per week position and will require some weekend availability.

The top priority of employees and all management must be to put customers first, do what is right by the customer, and make sure that each customer leaves happy and with a good experience. 

A Merchandiser’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for financial results by using provided KPI analyses to better understand the category and improve sales and margin. Keeping key items in stock, maintaining, and adjusting order levels
  • Interacting with vendors for pricing negotiations, vendor agreements, promotional programs, vendor funds and product. This could also include developing new sources where suppliers are inadequate.
  • Creating sales promotions and submitting to direct supervisor and the Creative & Advertising team by the set deadlines. 
  • Keeping up with current developments and trends.
  • Good negotiation, written and oral communication skills are a must. 
  • Keeping stores and associates motivated by getting them excited about new product, arranging displays, training, and contests.
  • Merchandiser must, if asked, be willing and able to attend trade shows and deal professionally with vendors, distributors, and sale representatives.


  • Category management over multiple categories while demonstrating strong initiative, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong computer skills including being proficient in Microsoft Excel being able to build pivot tables and formulas.
  • Excellent analytical abilities to be able to review facts and use problem solving skills to make educated decisions. 
  • Build strong internal and external relationships focused on value creation.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, proceed with objectives with little or no supervision, and meet deadlines. 
  • Adjusts effectively to work within new work structures, processes, or requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and strong negotiating skills
  • Ability to be a team player.
  • Excellent time management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • 2+ years of experience or Bachelor’s degree or above in Merchandising, Supply Chain, or other related Procurement field.

In the 1950s, Hollywood Feed opened our first pet supply store on the corner of Hollywood Street and Chelsea Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee. At our corporate office, we’ve got seven teams and counting! Depending on the department (Operations, Marketing, Buying, Technology, Finance, Distribution or Real Estate), you’ll assist with projects and tasks and provide any additional support to our retail locations. Often, you’ll work closely with coworkers on your team as well as other teams. So being able to work well with others and communicate effectively is essential. Also, you will need to stay up to date on interdepartmental communications and trainings.
