The Visual Merchandising & Styling (VMS) function develops and implements inspiring premium and elevated consumer experiences and presentations for the Nike brand across the North American geography. The VMS team develops product journeys, presentation strategies, styling direction as well as playbooks & training modules that create a distinct point of view for the brand at retail. Additionally, we work directly with the business, operations, and design functions to develop, drive, and scale new concepts / retail expansion across the marketplace.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a curious, driven, and passionate leader who loves retail, and talent development and understands the power of well-thought-out and executed in-store presentations. This role plays an integral part in ensuring the brand priorities and concept presentation strategies & standards are implemented consistently across our new door openings. This candidate thinks strategically through both brand and business lenses and inspires and activates a network of “VMS Go Teams” and in-store talent to ensure flawless execution. We are looking for a validated people leader and talent developer, who has strong communication and influencing skills and is results & solution-oriented. This person will engage widely with the field organization and, therefore, is a people-first leader who can empower, mentor, and lead a mostly remote team.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

A typical week consists of regular connections with the cross-functional geo-based Go Team as well as the on-the-ground Go Team and TVMs where appropriate to ensure teams have the tools, direction, and training to optimize processes. You will partner with the VMS Concept Team on the development of the VMS tools & training modules needed to fuel door openings across all concepts. You will work closely with WHQ VMS partners to share feedback and best practices and define opportunities for future openings.

  • Develop a clear Go Team strategy for VMS in partnership with other geo & field-based Go Team leads.
  • Directly lead VMS Go Team Managers, setting goals that link to overall fleet plan expansion and retail excellence metrics.
  • Indirectly lead, mentor, and inspire a remote VMS Go Team who are obsessing door opening readiness and optimization
  • Passionate about empowering store teams with the VMS knowledge needed to sustain our standards.
  • Develop and champion strong and collaborative relationships with Go Team & Field Leadership, Geo VMS, Store OPS, and other cross-functional business partners.
  • Monitor door openings to ensure VMS standards are met and consistent while facilitating dialogue across teams to optimize where needed.
  • Orchestrate store opening recaps in partnership with the broader Go Team to celebrate and share the work.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

In this role, you will be working with a diverse set of teams and individuals across multiple brands and business functions including the field and WHQ organizations. This role reports directly to the Sr Director VMS but is expected to build and sustain collaborative working relationships with the Go Team LT, Store OPS, Director of Stores, and RDDs in order to craft and optimize our door opening processes. You will also partner with Geo & Territory VMS teams to build a strong flow of communication to continually improve tools & direction.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING?

  • Possess a clear passion for the art and science of visual merchandising & styling!
  • Passion for team leadership, people development, and coaching & mentoring a team of energetic talent!
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Design or related field or combination of relevant education, experience, and training with extensive experience in Visual Merchandising.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in retail marketing, visual merchandising, product merchandising, or directly related experience
  • Extensive visual background with previous experience in a retail environment
  • Proven experience creating engaging and inspiring in-store displays. Footwear & apparel experience is preferred.
  • Ability to build unique presentation solutions for various retail environments.
  • Knowledge of the current retail landscape and the latest trends and innovations for retail.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong influencing & negotiating skills, are required.
  • Confident presentation skills with command of Outlook calendar, Excel, PowerPoint, and Keynote, Mac proficiency strongly preferred.
  • Ability to Travel 20-40% and work some irregular work hours.
