Job description

Principal Architect

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Java Architect with cloud native experience to join our Digital Engineering team and lead the cloud platform architecture of In this role, you'll provide thought leadership around ecommerce platform architecture, site availability, performance and scalability. You will lead and mentor backend engineering teams towards engineering excellence by establishing architecture / coding standards, implementing best practices, and making sure our eCom Platform and Architecture are best in class. You will develop innovative technology solutions to help drive key business initiatives in an Agile environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Drive various Digital Platform architecture components of aws cloud and java stack

- Lead the team's technical direction by exploring and implementing the best in class technologies and advocating the use of best practices, libraries, and tools for microservices development

- Work directly with partner engineering teams, Product Management and JCPenney business stake holders to define contracts, dependencies and communicate technical capabilities

- Collaborate with UX, product managers, develops, front & back-end scrums teams to deliver high quality experiences

- Collaborate with distinguished architects and engineering leadership on technology roadmap and strategy.

- Troubleshoot pre and post-production functional and non-functional issues

- Stay up to date on the latest industry technology trends and practices.

- Propose new ideas and best practices to improve performance and experience of the siteCore Competencies & Accomplishments:

- Strong java, spring boot, spring cloud, cloud native experience

- Expert experience building high-performant, heavy-traffic sites and microservice platforms

- Ability to review and provide feedback in code reviews. Design reusable components (using design patterns). Experience with unit & test driven approach to development

- Extensive experience with SAAS, PAAS and IAAS platforms

- Expert knowledge of build tools and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (Jenkins, Travis)

- Experience with Restful API and API Security frameworks.

- Extensive experience in identifying opportunities to improve performance, stability, and scalability of enterprise web applications

- Work experience in Agile Scrum methodologies

- Experience building applications using Adaptive/Responsive Design Principles and leveraging various applications layers to enhance performance

- Experience with AWS cloud, nosql Databases are nice to have

- Familiarity with Data Structures, Algorithms, and general Computer Science Fundamentals

- Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems, or equivalent work experience

- 10+ years of experience with web application development; preferably 4+ years in building spring and resful api.

- 5+ years of experience with leading strong engineering teams.What you get:
