Print Designer – Komar Sleepwear

Komar, a global leader in the design, sourcing, manufacturing and distribution of apparel with a diverse portfolio of owned and licensed brands is seeking an experienced Print Designer to join our licensed sleepwear team.  Candidates must have the ability to work in our Jersey City, NJ office.

Responsibilities include:

Translate and interpret current trends to create original prints.

Design all over, engineered and placement prints.

Color match, generate and update digital color palettes.

Work closely with design team to set concept, color, and print direction consistent with brand strategies.

Color all artwork to seasonal palette specifications; create repeats of prints.

Scan, clean and create repeats from purchased art work.

Create all production art packages.

Communicate with overseas offices.

Research current trends in print design and color.

Coordinate print studio visits and act as a liaison between design and print studios as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Textiles & Surface Design or related degree.

Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.

Advanced technical skills using Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Must understand how to reduce colors and index scans.

Possess a strong sense of color/print.

Must be able to match color from fabric swatch and various color services.

Experience working with vintage prints, hand painted art and digital art.

Must be able to interpret florals, intricate paisleys, watercolor techniques, and textures within prints.

Experience working with print vendors.

Ability to communicate print and color direction to design team.

Ability to work at a fast pace and adhere to a design development calendar.
