The Product Developer has a vital role in the creation of Holzweiler Knitwear, Jersey & Knitted Accessories collections. The role has overall responsibility for translating design concept into product. In the company, the key relationships for the role are with the category designers, garment technicians and production and buying managers, who together will lead the end-to-end product creation process.  The Product Developer will be based in the Oslo HQ and report to the Head of Product Development.   

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Overall responsibility for translating design concept into product and delivering high quality and timely prototypes and SMS samples.  

  • Building and maintaining a close working partnership with Design. Acting as the partner for category designer, providing suggestions and feedback on styles, fabrics and trims, brainstorming ideas, and solutions to ensure the design vision is translated into a detailed tech pack and bill of materials. 

  • Responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships with suppliers, including travel when required. Developing a strong working knowledge of vendor capability and availability to meet aesthetic and cost demands.  

  • Negotiation of costs with suppliers and communication with Merchandising. Design and Production and Buying teams on required updates at prototype and SMS stages. 

  • Responsible for collaborating with the Garment Technology, Sourcing and Sustainability teams while developing the collections for product testing to relevant standards, leveraging their technical knowledge to create the best possible product.  

  • Responsible for collating feedback for suppliers and internal departments from fittings at prototype stage. 

  • Responsible for timely handover of collection with feedback to Production and Buying Department. 

  • Responsible for ensuring functionality, consistency, and standardisation, and that all products developed are fit for purpose for the customer, brand, and business. This includes ongoing risk assessment during the development process and proactivity in taking actions as a result. 

  • Accountable for ensuring Delouge and Product Overviews are kept updated and accurate, with support from the team. 

  • Providing leadership and guidance to the Junior Product Developer. 

  • Supporting the Head of Product Development through ownership of categories. 

Profile 

  • 3+ years of experience in similar role.  

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite. 

  • Strong organisational skills. 

  • Technical Knowledge of Knitwear and Jersey.  

  • Experience negotiating and working with suppliers in Europe and Asia a plus.
