A Purchasing Support Specialist provides detailed support to the merchant community in the creation, delivery, and sale of merchandise in our FTL Inc banners.

The Purchasing Support Specialist has the ability to work in a hybrid work environment, working virtual and in-office at our St.Petersburg, FL, or New York Corporate Office.


- Validate Range Plan information to aid in the accurate creation of Common Product IDs (CPIDs)

- Drive the creation of Divisional SKUs through the SKU RPA process. Manual creation of SKUs will be necessary in conjunction with the SKU RPA process in peak volume periods.

- Aid in the completion and validation of Buy Worksheets

- Drive the creation of Purchase Orders through the PO RPA process. Manual creation will be necessary in conjunction with the PO RPA process in peak volume periods.

- Assist merchant community with assortment catalog proofing including SKU numbers, Vendor Style numbers, UPCs, Retail, Cost, imagery, and other various attributes

- Communicate with vendor partners to validate/troubleshoot product attribution issues (ie UPCs)

- Assist merchant community with purchase order discrepancies from vendors relating to shortages, overages, and pricing

- Assist merchant and logistics community with the movement of purchase order attributes including dates and priority codes

- Aid merchant community in the maintenance of the Launch and Special Buy database

- Other duties may be assigned as necessary

- This role has no supervisory responsibilities

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of computers, specifically spreadsheets and database tools is required. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word required. Microsoft Access knowledge is a plus.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.


Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
