TheRetail Category Merchandiserwill be responsible for managing retail product assortments in various product categories. This position requires a strong attention to detail and ability to be both creative and analytical.

Responsibilities:

•Work with Product Managers, Retail Merchandising Director and Manager to select products and determine product assortment.

•Develop strategies and execute on all aspects of retail product assortment changes (discontinued products, new products, rack changes, merchandising location changes, etc.)

•Keep inventory investment on new and existing stock to a necessary minimum.

•Work with Retail Purchasing to ensure products are appropriately ordered and removed from stores.

•Create and maintain POGs in Space Planning software.

•Coordinate with District and Store Managers to ensure store merchandise needs are met.

•Effectively communicate assortment changes to stores.

•Work with Retail Marketing on in-store signage and marketing product initiatives.

•Work with Retail Promotional Merchandiser and Retail Marketing to develop and review promotional flyers.

•Use Retail IDEAS reporting software to create and maintain various sales reports.

•Make functional use of Excel pivot tables, filters and macros.

•Consistently analyze sales to find sales growth opportunities at both the category and SKU level.

•Provide sales summary to Retail Merchandising Director and Merchandising Manager as needed.

•On-site assistance with new store planning and set-up.

•On-site assistance with new merchandise planning and roll-outs.

•Other assignments and report building, as needed.

Skills:

•Ability to think both creatively and analytically

•Ability to work independently while handling multiple projects concurrently

•A high degree of strategic insight and creativity in visual merchandising and retail execution

•High Proficiency in Excel, and Outlook; proficiency in Word, and PowerPoint

•Strong communication skills to work with numerous departments

•Flexibility in schedule to meet deadlines which may include overnight and weekend work or travel

Qualifications:

•Four year college degree required

•Minimum of four years of Merchandising or Buying Experience

•Minimum of two years post graduate Retail Experience

•A high degree of strategic insight and creativity in visual merchandising and retail execution

•Proficiency in MS Office suite, demonstrated experience in Excel and PowerPoint

•Flexibility in schedule to meet deadlines which may include overnight and weekend work or travel

•Interest in or knowledge of the arts, art education, or art materials a plus
