In this fast-paced, high energy environment where great guest service is essential, how do we keep guests informed about our exciting Potawatomi Casino Hotel (PCH) brand? As a Retail Fashion Designer, you will use your technical and artistic skills to produce designs, possess a keen eye for fashion trends and understanding of textiles, fabrics and styles to bring the PCH brand to life. While carrying out the job duties listed below, you will contribute to our continued success by demonstrating unsurpassed guest service, a high level of integrity and ethical standards, and personal and professional dedication to our mission, vision, and values.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. *Drive sales and create a unique experience for our guests by providing elevated design offerings that showcase the PCH brand.
  2. *Conceptualize, design, and execute a wide range of impactful designs that align with the overall direction and business strategy of PCH.
  3. *Manage and deliver multiple projects, and proactively communicate status and trouble-shoot issues, meeting deadlines and stay within approved budget.
  4. *Utilize strong visual presentation, communication and design skills to present design ideas into functional deliverables for presenting to groups and/or individuals, including but not limited to, using mood boards, 2D and 3D design plans, Computer-aided Design (CAD) software, and free-hand sketch-ups.
  5. *Develop products with a detailed focus on style, fit and fabric; source and select fabrics and materials for products to sell in the retail stores.
  6. *Research and understand fashion trends to stay current with or trend-set styles and fashions based on market trends and feedback of the needs and wants of our guests.
  7. *Build and maintain working relationships with area artists and design companies to collaborate on producing PCH brand products as necessary.
  8. Work with leadership to solicit bids, prepare requisitions, and negotiate to ensure the best pricing and quality of materials. Supervise vendors in the execution of finished product.
  9. Planning and developing fashion ranges as they relate to internal and external events, promotions, and tribal events as necessary.
  10. Collaborate with others internally and externally to meet deadlines, and produce finished products.
  11. Ensure full compliance with departmental Internal Controls, policies, procedures and regulations.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  1. An Associate’s degree in fashion design field plus 1 year of designing experience are required. If no degree, 3 years of fashion designing experience is required.
  2. A bachelor’s degree in design or fine arts is preferred. Retail experience preferred.
  3. Ability to do sketch-ups by hand with meticulous detail and conceptual skill.
  4. Online portfolio, either via PDF or link, which demonstrates effective application of concepts and design work across a variety of projects required.
  5. Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and general knowledge of Microsoft Office. Adobe Creative Suite, including proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign is required.
  6. The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information.
  7. The ability to interact with vendors, guests and team members professionally.
  8. The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  9. The ability to travel for research and product development as needed.
  10. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move freely throughout the office and property for duration of scheduled shift. The team member is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The team member must be able to operate a personal computer. The team member is required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds occasionally, with assistance. Team member must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

The noise level is usually moderate to loud. When on the casino floor the noise level increases. The facility is not smoke free.
