Title:Retail Merchandiser

Reports to: International Retail Area Manager with a dotted line to the Senior Merchandiser at Corporate HQ

Location: Remote based out of Florida

The Opportunity:

The Retail Merchandiser (RM) is a newly created role designed to support our retail locations throughout the US. Currently, we have 14 stores in the US + 10 store in Puerto Rico. Our growth plan is to open 60 new stores in the next 5 years! As the (RM) you are the connection between the sales floor and our customers. To maximize performance, you ensure that inventory is in the right place at the right time. The (RM) will ensure that TOUS offerings are present in designated stores, and that stock is replenished as needed. The (RM) will create the right image to entice customers to buy from our collections.

The (RM) will partner closely with the Merchandising team at corporate HQ in Barcelona to incorporate strategy at the market level, aiming to increase profitability per point of sale and productivity per collection. The (RM) will support the Retail Management Team at the store level by serving as the “go to person” for merchandising, planning, replenishment and distribution related questions, concerns, and suggestions.

The (RM) will have the opportunity, latitude, and support to spearhead the growth of our business by implementing the critical retail merchandising standards in each retail location to provide an exceptional customer experience that exceeds their expectations. The (RM) will be in a position to partner closely with the Executive Management Team. With this direct access the (RM) will have a sphere of influence throughout the company. This role is destined to set the foundation of growth of the merchandising function for all retails stores across the US. Through your meaningful contributions you will have the unique opportunity to become an essential leader for TOUS USA and experience rapid career growth within our organization. The (RM) will be well positioned to champion operational best practices on a larger scale as we scale the retail expansion. This is a vertical growth opportunity.

Key Job Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assortment selection in the US stores based on budget and product strategy.
  • Sales analysis and inventory review, proposing commercial actions and tracking their impact on the business.
  • Market knowledge, identifying customer preferences, trend changes, competition analysis, and pricing.
  • Optimization and control of inventory: tracking shipments according to TTM, restocking stocks, and transfer movements between stores to maximize point of sale productivity.
  • Regular store visits to assess product placement and compliance with guidelines set by corporate teams.
  • Presentation of collections to commercial teams, conveying the season's strategy, inspiration, and product details.
  • Monitoring and implementation of promotional campaigns by market, ensuring the appropriate pricing and margins policy.
  • Collaborating with the distribution department for the proper implementation of the assortment in-store, coordinating with product, purchasing, management control, logistics, and commercial areas.

Core Competencies

Our ideal candidate is expected to have a proven track record in implementing and communicating corporate retail merchandiser directives with store management. In this role, you will be responsible for strategically planning and managing the allocation and replenishment of merchandise across TOUS stores to ensure that the right product assortments available in the right quantities at the right time, optimizing sales, inventory turnover, and profit margins.

Assortment Planning:

  • Collaborate with the buying team at corporate HQ to develop merchandise assortment plans based on sales trends, customer preferences, and market insights.

Inventory Management:

  • Forecast demand for various product categories and develop inventory plans to meet sales targets while minimizing overstock and out-of-stock situations.
  • Monitor and adjust inventory levels at the retail stores to optimize stock turnover and achieve sales goals.

Allocation and Replenishment:

  • Partner with allocation to merchandise to stores based on sales data, store-specific attributes, and demand patterns.
  • Implement replenishment strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure timely restocking of fast-selling products.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate and analyze reports on sales, inventory, and other relevant KPIs to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Track and evaluate the performance of merchandise plans, adjusting as needed to achieve financial goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the buying, marketing, and operations teams to ensure alignment on merchandising strategies and goals.

Key Attributes/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a similar field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in a retail company, preferably in the fashion or jewelry sector.
  • Leads with integrity and authenticity and can be seen as a trusted and knowledgeable advisor.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding sales goals and KPI’s.
  • Exhibits a strong work ethic, leadership skills, high energy level, and is team oriented.
  • Highly motivated, an entrepreneurial self-starter who is able to manage time effectively and create short and long terms goals under minimum supervision.
  • A flexible, positive attitude.
  • Proactive nature and ability to act with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with SAP.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to store locations throughout the state in Florida for store visits. Travel to stores in other states 2x a year and travel to Barcelona, Spain 1x a year.
