Job Description

Phoenix Leather Goods is a Christian based e-commerce retailer of clothing accessories. We are a kind, encouraging and diverse organization accepting of all beliefs. PLG is located in Bolingbrook, IL and is seeking a Buyer to excel in both strategic and daily operational activities. Focusing on product management, purchasing, sourcing, private label, and more. This is a full-time, salary position that includes bonus opportunities, paid time off, health, dental and vision insurance. Life and Disability insurance included. There is also a merchandise discount, casual dress code, 401k matching after a year, and opportunities to grow and learn daily in an entrepreneurial environment. We currently allow associates to work from home 2 days a week, as long as everyone is in on Tuesdays. The work week is 45 hours, including lunches.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Manage assigned categories, such as Pajamas and Headwear

- Prepare and expedite purchase orders for replenishment buys

- Analyze sales and competition across platforms (Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, etc)

- Communication with vendors to negotiate price, delivery, shortages, etc

- Copy-writing descriptions for only presentation of product, applying SEO strategies

- Regularly monitor and adjust online presentation of products in designated categories

- Work with Customer Service to ensure backorders are filled or cancelled

- Work with Marketing for promotions and product highlights

- Forecast and create assortments to grow categories

- Monitor sales and apply markdowns

- Manage small team

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred

- Must have an analytical mind and a self-starter

- 3-5 year’s buying experience

- 3-5 year’s experience in retail and merchandising of fashion / accessories

- Strong oral and written communication skills

- Solid organizational skills

- Effective negotiating skills

- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

- Ability to successfully multi-task and follow through

- Flexibility – a willingness to embrace and adapt to change

- Must have a passion for buying and a desire to thrive

- Be a team player with a positive attitude
