As a member of the North Sails Global Production Team, the Senior Buyer oversees and completes purchases of materials and supplies to support the 3D manufacturing facility.

The Senior Buyer will be responsible to oversee purchasing in the 3D manufacturing facility in Minden, Nevada. This role will manage inventory, purchasing activities, planning, forecasting, receiving and meeting the overall supply demands of the production facility. The position reports to the Operations Manager. The position requires a continuous evaluation and adjustment of priorities and duties based on production needs.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Directly supports all the departments by obtaining materials and supplies needed.
  • Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of vendors and suppliers to assure the highest quality at the best price.
  • Manages vendor pricing to obtain maximum ROI. Negotiate appropriate contracts for pricing and supply.
  • Develop strong relationships and establish material replenishment methods with vendors and suppliers.
  • Issues Purchase Orders and monitors return of acknowledgement.
  • Track incoming inventory, delivery arrival time, and note actual arrival time.
  • Manage delivery, quality performance, cost, and customer satisfaction for established vendors.
  • Manages receiving of all incomings supplies, materials, parts, etc.
  • Resolve billing and shipping problems and provide information to suppliers. 
  • Update minimum order quantities, lead-times and other pertinent information in D365 item master.
  • Responsible for all aspects associated with coordinating product cycle counts and managing the responsibilities of the year-end inventory count in conjunction with Accounting
  • Work with team members to develop future purchasing plans.
  • Identify and approve potential vendors and suppliers for future project needs.
  • Develop purchasing policies and procedures and obtain approval for new policies.
  • Act as the liaison with accounting to ensure ERP system requirements are achieved and vendors are paid in a timely manner.
  • Indirectly support Sri Lanka purchasing and inventory management to ensure 3D production needs are met.

Qualification Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, finance, or related field is preferred. CPM/APICS certification is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of purchasing processes, policy, and systems
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience as purchasing officer, manager, or related position
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to negotiate, establish, and process contracts
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer
