RDG Global, a fast-paced design manufacturer based in NYC, is seeking a Modern/Contemporary Senior Designer to join our Design team.

We deliver private label sweaters and sportswear from conception through completion. With robust product development capabilities complemented by a keen understanding of trend, our company produces apparel across its own proprietary labels and under license. We partner with leading retailers, providing them with current trend direction. We are a fashion house that is highly experienced at developing products and manufacturing in a wide array of styles and size ranges and can meet the needs of consumers in all apparel categories including missy, junior, contemporary, plus, petite, children, accessories, and sleepwear.

The Modern/Contemporary Senior Designer is responsible for creating a collection for a celebrity designer licensee as well as partner with our modern private label accounts servicing their seasonal development requests.

Main Responsibilities/Functions Include but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop and present Rachel by Rachel Roy, a modern young lifestyle collection of all categories of Knits, Wovens, Sweaters and fashion outerwear.
  • Create concept decks and line sheets for sales and Licensee approval.
  • Maintain and develop private label design service businesses with Contemporary brands including but not exclusively Kohls Nine West and Kohls Simply Vera Wang.
  • Interact with designers from our private label customers and can present in meetings.
  • Ability to work as a team and manage multiple calendars in a fast-paced business.
  • Research trends in color, yarn and fabric that fit into a budget price point.
  • Merchandize, and be able to work on tech packs as well as have the ability to partner with the technical team for proto sampling.
  • Partner with sales and cad teams for art as well as sketch needs for the collection and customer requests in a timely manor.
  • Interact daily with our overseas factories and offices to ensure samples, yarns and research are followed up and developed to specifications.
  • Managerial experience, ability to manage and grow an assistant designer.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, or related field.
  • Must have 7+ years of experience working as a Fashion Designer designing all categories for modern brands.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to details.
  • Must be able to multi-task, work independently and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a very fast paced work environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be a team player and react to feedback in a positive way.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to see through a creative vision from inception to completion.
